I just finished up with the first ever Linsey Corbin triathlon camp at The Cycling House in Tucson, Arizona.
The Cycling House is a Montana based business that is run out of Tucson, Arizona. My friend Owen, from Missoula, started the Cycling House in 2005. Owen came from a pro-cycling background and he wanted to create an environment where people could come train, recover, eat, relax - just like the pro’s do. Even though the Cycling House is in Tucson (and now France, Spain & California editions) - it is rooted with Montana tradition. Staffed with Montana employees and filled with Montana’s laid-back, yet driven attitudes. The latest edition to the house staff is local top chef, Ty Brookhart, who whips up the finest meals in town for guests of the house.
My good friend and fellow Montana professional triathlete, Brendan Halpin, and I have been talking about doing a camp for a while now. It was great to make it finally happen.
There was a solid crew that rolled into town last week for the camp. It was a blast! While the weather was chilly, we spent the mornings doing swim sessions, trail running, TRX, stretching, and enjoying espresso from the house’s gourmet machine.
In the afternoons we hit up all of Tucson’s great rides: Madera Canyon, Gates Pass, Mt. Lemmon, and many more.
At night we had some great discussions about training, racing & nutrition. I am pretty sure the greatest game of charades was ever played, as well.
The last night of camp Ty & Sevan treated us to sushi night and Monica busted out a flourless chocolate cake that did not disappoint.
Clients were treated just like the pros: there was a massage therapist on hand, fresh cooked meals all-day everyday, great training, bike mechanics, and much more. The group had a great dynamic and I think it is safe to say we all learned something from each other. I am already looking forward to 2012.
A big thanks to everyone that came out and of course to The Cycling House crew - we crushed it!
The Tucson adventure continues…. rumor has it Madison the wonder dog is appearing this week. I can’t wait until she meets a cactus for the first time.
Thanks for tuning in! Safe riding out there….
