Linsey Corbin Keynote Speaker for Scholarship Awards Dinner

Thursday, May 8, 2014, 6:00 PM

TCF (The Center Foundation) is pleased to announce that professional triathlete, Ironman Champion and new Bend resident, Linsey Corbin, will be the keynote speaker for its annual Salute to Heroes Scholarship Awards Dinner scheduled for May 8, 2014. The Salute to Heroes Scholarship Awards Dinner acknowledges and rewards outstanding high school juniors and seniors who model “what’s right with kids” through academic excellence, leadership, and service. The scholarship dinner, which is not a fundraiser, brings together the community, families, and students to celebrate the success of outstanding Central Oregon students. “Having Linsey as the keynote speaker is perfect for us because she understands overcoming difficult situations, setting goals, not giving up, hard work, and being innovative” says Dr. Tom Carlsen, TCF board president. A Mountain View High School runner and competitive youth skier with Mt. Bachelor Sport Education Foundation, Linsey left Bend to attend the University of Montana, where she discovered her love for triathlon. Corbin has since earned three Ironman titles, and three top ten finishes at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. “I’m excited to participate in this event and share my story with the Bend community. Through my career as a professional athlete I have learned to be goal-oriented, process-driven, and motivated by my peers. I’ve achieved the results I have because of the ideals that the foundation supports,” stated Corbin.
