I had a bit of an amateur hour this weekend. Oooooops. Good to know we aren't all perfect.

My Kona training "officially" kicks off on July 1st. In order to get ready I thought it might be a good idea on Friday to hit the weight room and get the party started. I try and lift light weights throughout the season for injury prevention. Naturally, with racing, this requires taking bits of time off here and there. Regardless, I hadn't lifted a weight in 3 weeks with the Boise race, recovery, and Sun Valley travel.

Back to Friday. I lifted, what I thought was nothing - can you say squats with only the bar? By Friday afternoon my quads were sore to the touch. Ooooops. Chris and I loaded up the car and headed to Dillon, Montana and I anticipated my Saturday: the 130 mile RATPOD (Ride Around The Pioneer Mountains in One Day). Sitting in the car only made my legs more and more stiff. Not good.

We arrived to Dillon and our first stop was the world famous taco bus. It actually isn't really world famous, but it should be! It offers the best tacos on the East side of the Continental Divide as far as the Corbin's are concerned.

Next stop was packet pick-up where one of our favorites, Montana's Tom Catmull entertained the 500+ RATPOD riders.

Friday night was a sleep under the stars. By now my quads were quivering. Not good. At all.

By Saturday morning I was in a whole world of pain with 130 miles of riding on the docket. I don't have much to write about it. I just barely rode with the boys, and I was embarrassed as I couldn't pull through and just free-loaded the whole ride. Hate that! You can tell I didn't feel as perky as normal, as I only photographed one thing in a span of 6 hours, and that was at the breakfast break. You can tell from the photo that the scenery was amazing and there was lots of climbing involved. I think the ride should be named Ride OVER the Pioneers in One Day. As I say - log it! It was quite possibly the worst I have ever felt on a bike ride.

Post-ride was all about kicking back and enjoying a few beers brought to you by the best sponsor a girl could ever ask for: Big Sky Brewing!

Let the Kona prep beginnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
